
Culver Brothers Racing is a combined effort of Joe and Bill Culver. Joe and Bill were involved in N.H.R.A. Drag racing in the early 70's promoting a 1965 Mercury Comet that ran in the D/Modified production class. Culver Brothers also promoted several cars during the early 70's such as a B/Gas Willis and then Jr/Fuel dragster.
Joey Martin is a TOP vetran driver of Pro Mod drag racing. His experence with racing started with Motocross racing between the ages of 5-15. This lead to a love of Drag racing in his teen years. In 2001 Joey accepted a full time driving position with Tindle Enterprises driving their 1941 "Gotham City Willys. He has competed at National events in the AMS ProMod series as well as ADRL (American Drag Racing League). Joey also drove the TORCO Racing Fuels GT Mustang and the Tindle Site Contracting GT Mustang. Last year he drove a 2007 Mustang he built and finished the year in the ADRL series in second place. We are lucky that we were able to have him come this year to drive BODACIOUS.
Joe Culver is a 32 year veteran of the Cobb County Police Department in Marietta, Georgia. Joe has worked in every facet of law enforcement and currently retired . Bill Culver was employed as a Supervisor with Lockheed-Martin Aeronautical Systems in Marietta, Georgia and he too is retired.
Crew Chief Mike Canter, a Lockheed-Martin Software Engineer, provides expertise in all our systems and computer data recording program. He builds our 526 inch Carol Carter motors as well as sets up and maintains our Lenco transmission and handles the clutch set up. Mike retired from Lockheed-Martin this year (2008). Carol Carter does all block and head work plus provide technical support.
After campaigning our 1957 Ford 300 Sedan in the mid 1990's it become outdated. We ran a Jerry Haas 1992 Ford Thunderbird in the 1998 season. For the 2000 season through 2006, we have been campaigning a Tommy Mauney 96 Thunderbird. The car has a steel body with carbon fiber doors, front end, and deck lid. The Thunderbird, for the last, two years is being powered by a 526 cubic inch big block Ford Hemi engine. The engine is powered by alcohol running through a SSI 14-71 High Helex Blower. Power is transferred to the ground through a three-speed Lenco transmission. Ram clutches help propel the car to an average time of 4.15 seconds/178 mph in the Eight-mile as well as 6.15 seconds at over 226 mph in the Quarter-mile. The team's primary sponsor is Culver Brothers Racing. Match racing and advertising sponsors are AFCO Racing, Jazz, Powermaster alternators, MSD ignitions, Manton Racing products, Crain Cams, Riley Racing products, PitMat. VP Racing Fuel and American Synthol oils and lubricants are also advertisers/sponsors for the team. Machine work is provided by Tommy Harris the owner of Design Concepts.
Stephen (Zar) Todd of Zarteck Race Cars is the final member of the team. Stephen owns Zarteck which designs and builds chassis, roll bars and custom designs headers for racing.
John Wayne of Dothan Alabama and Rod Burke Designs of Georgia are our graphics and art work directors. John runs his own graphics art, logo and sign business. Rod Burke also owns his own graphic design business and is currently working on the design for our new 2006 t-shirts as well as our "HERO" cards. The NEW "Bodacious" bull is Rods design.
The paint and body work were done by Mike and Brian Yancy of Viper Kustom .
